Total Office Solutions, LLP has made a conscious effort to implement sustainability throughout its businesses. We recognize the importance of assisting our communities with a better place to work and live. We consistently strive to improve upon our own practices and assist in educating others on how they can contribute to the renewal of our earth's resources. Each of our companies utilize an application monitoring systems. These particular application monitors keep track of our system resources and minimize the amount of time the equipment is running, therefore conserving energywhen they are not in use. Once our computers have reached the end of their life cycle they are taken to a recycling organization. The CPUtower and monitors are then stripped down to their basic components are recycled or sold for reuse.

In 2000, the office relocation industry was flourishing. That growth caused larger purchases of packing materials and generated more waste. To help alleviate the growth of municipal solid waste and create a more proficient relocation service Move Solutions, Ltd. replaced cardboard boxes with plastic crates. In doing so, we became the first commercial office relocation firm to use crates in the Southwestern United States. The switch from boxes to crates eliminated 20,000 pounds of waste from our landfills a month. Our packaging methods include fabric cloths, minimal shrink-wrap, and minimal tape to cut down on disposal at the job site. Preservation has been a part of our philosophy for a number of years. This is why we prefer that the lines we represent reflect our same values. Our closed line suppliers are perfect examples of companies that embody our sustainability beliefs.

Kimball Office and National inherited their dedication to the environment from their parent company Kimball International. Their company culture is committed to the conservation and protection of our natural surroundings. Kimball International has been an advocate for forestry management since 1963. Their passion is further carried out within each of their companies with the "Trees for Tomorrow" program. This program provides its employees and our ever-growing communities with over 360,000 seedlings for planting. Today, over half a million plants have grown under their care.

Their EnvironmentalTaskTeam spends countless hours researching processes to improve the performance and longevity of all Kimball Office and National furniture. As a result, their products can be reconfigured with minimal waste; their product lines and finish options can be integrated with one another allowing customers to grow rather than dispose of existing furniture.

Both Kimball Office and National use low-emission adhesives, paints, and wood finishes. They have adopted waterbased adhesives where possible and use powder coat paints. A majority of their product lines are certified under Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor Advantage and Indoor Advantage Gold programs. Products certified under Indoor Advantage meet BIFMAFES and LEED standards. Indoor Advantage Gold products meet BIFMAFES, LEED, and CA01350 requirements.

Collectively they seek to improve upon the products they manufacture and the betterment of their own facilities. Three of their ten showrooms are LEED Certified and their manufacturing facilities are registered to the ISO 14001 standard. In addition, they have partnered up with the U.S. EPASmartWay program This transportation partnership denotes a reduction in transportation-related emissions and a more fuel efficient way to travel.

All Kimball International companies view their legacy as more than just producing quality furniture. They are infinitely focused on working towards a more sustainable world one day at a time.

From the beginning AIS has maintained a strong philosophy in developing high-quality products for an affordable price as well as producing environmentally friendly products. They constantly push themselves to uncover more efficient manufacturing standards which has lead them to become a leader in Lean Initiatives. Every part of their manufacturing process involves waste reduction and recycling.

As of January 2007 all AIS systems furniture and metal storage are GREENGUARD certified. This accomplishment means that all AIS systems have low chemical emissions and do not contribute to indoor air pollution. Their systems furniture contains between 40% and 55% recycled materials by weight and are accompanied with lifetime warranty. Therefore their systems furniture, when specified with GREENGUARD Certified seating, can contribute to LEED-CI points.

Furthermore, AIS developed Corporate Green initiatives to contribute to their sustainability efforts. Within the company they have recycled nearly 1 ton of white and mixed office paper and over 165 tons of cardboard. Over the past couple of years, in conjunction with the TerraPass Program, they have purchased passes for every member of their Operations and Sales Teams. This has offset the amount of carbon emissions from their employee's automobiles. AIS takes great pride in their achievements and continues make great strides in creating a healthier environment for generations to come.
